The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has
issued the following...
WHAT...Air Quality Health Advisory for Wildfire Smoke.
WHERE...Montrose, Ouray, Hinsdale, Mineral, Archuleta and southern
Gunnison Counties. Locations include, but are not limited to
Montrose, Nucla, Ouray, Lake City, Creede, Pagosa Springs and
Sapinero.
WHEN...900 AM Friday August 07 to 900 AM Saturday August 08
IMPACTS...Moderate to heavy smoke from fires in southwestern
Colorado will impact the advisory area through at least Saturday
morning. The heaviest smoke is expected for locations in close
vicinity to the Elk fire located in northern Hinsdale County,
especially along Highway 149 north of Lake City during the morning
hours.
HEALTH INFORMATION...Public Health Recommendations: Increasing
likelihood of respiratory symptoms in sensitive individuals,
aggravation of heart or lung disease and premature mortality in
people with cardiopulmonary disease and older adults. People with
heart or lung disease, older adults, and children should reduce
prolonged or heavy exertion.

WHERE...Routt, Grand, Jackson, Gilpin and Clear Creek Counties.
Locations include, but are not limited to Steamboat Springs,
Granby, Hot Sulphur Springs, Kremmling, Walden, Central City and
Georgetown.
WHEN...900 AM Friday August 07 to 900 AM Saturday August 08
IMPACTS...Moderate to heavy smoke from out-of-state fires will
impact the advisory area through at least Saturday morning.
HEALTH INFORMATION...Public Health Recommendations: If smoke is
thick or becomes thick in your neighborhood you may want to remain
indoors. This is especially true for those with heart disease,
respiratory illnesses, the very young, and older adults. Consider
limiting outdoor activity when moderate to heavy smoke is present.
Consider relocating temporarily if smoke is present indoors and is
making you ill. If visibility is less than 5 miles in smoke in
your neighborhood, smoke has reached levels that are unhealthy.

issued the following...
WHAT...Action Day for Multiple Pollutants.
WHERE...Douglas, Jefferson, Denver, western Arapahoe, western
Adams, Broomfield, Boulder, Larimer, and Weld Counties
WHEN...400 PM Friday August 07 to 400 PM Saturday August 08
IMPACTS...Action Day for Multiple Pollutants is now in effect for
the Front Range Urban Corridor. Ozone is expected to be in the
Moderate to Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups range on Thursday and
Friday. The highest concentrations of ozone are most likely in the
southern and western portions of the Denver Metro area. Fine
particulate concentrations are expected to be in the Moderate to
Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups range on Thursday and Friday. For
Colorado air quality conditions, forecasts, and advisories, visit:

possible, please help us reduce ozone pollution by limiting
driving gas and diesel-powered vehicles until at least 4 p.m.
Saturday, August 8, 2026. Colorado is also addressing ozone
