...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 8 PM MDT THIS
EVENING...

The National Weather Service in Riverton has issued a Red Flag
Warning, which is in effect from noon today to 8 PM MDT this
evening.

* IMPACTS: Low Humidities...Hot Temperatures...Strong Gusty
  Winds...and Dry Thunderstorms with gusty and erratic outflow
  winds could cause erratic fire behavior.

* AFFECTED AREA:
  In Southwest WY...Fire Weather Zone 279.

* COUNTIES AFFECTED:
  In Southwest WY...Sweetwater.

* WIND: West 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

* THUNDERSTORMS: Between 1 PM and 8 PM with increasing confidence
  after 5 PM.

* HUMIDITY: As low as 10 percent.

* TEMPERATURES: Highs in the mid 80s.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are
either occurring now....or will shortly. A combination of strong
winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.

THIS EVENING FOR WIND AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR FIRE WEATHER
ZONES 478 AND 479...

* AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zone 478 Salt Lake Desert and
  Fire Weather Zone 479 Wasatch Mountains.

* THUNDERSTORMS...Scattered dry thunderstorms are expected to
  develop during the afternoon hours on Tuesday, bringing
  potential for frequent lightning strikes from storms producing
  little to no rainfall.

* OUTFLOW WINDS...A dry low level environment will promote
  potential for storms to produce strong outflow wind gusts in
  excess of 30-35 mph with around a 40-50 percent chance of
  gusts exceeding 45 mph.

* IMPACTS...Critical fire weather conditions are expected. Any
  new fire starts or existing fires may spread rapidly.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now...or are imminent. A combination of
lightning...dry fuel conditions...and gusty microburst winds will
create favorable conditions for new fire starts and extreme fire
behavior.

* AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zone 410 Upper Snake River
  Valley/Idaho Falls BLM, Fire Weather Zone 411 Centennial
  Mountains and Snake River Range/Targhee NF, Fire Weather Zone
  413 Caribou Range/Caribou NF and Fire Weather Zone 427 Goose
  Creek and Raft River Valley/Southern Sawtooth NF/Twin Falls
  BLM south of the Snake River.

* TIMING...Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop during
  the afternoon and evening hours, supporting the potential for
  gusty outflow winds and frequent lightning.

* WINDS...A dry low level environment will promote the potential
  for storms to produce gusty outflow wind gusts in excess of
  40-50 mph, locally higher up to around 60 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 15 to 25 percent.

* THUNDERSTORMS...25 to 45 percent coverage expected.

* IMPACTS...Critical fire weather conditions are expected today.
  Lightning may generate new fire starts. Any new fire starts or
  existing fires may spread rapidly.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly based on these criteria
for Southeastern Idaho:

- Relative humidity at or below 15 percent and wind gusts of at
  least 25 mph in the mountains, or 30 mph in the Snake Plain.

- Thunderstorm coverage of 25 percent, without specific rainfall
  criteria.
