...FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 730 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...A portion of southwest Virginia, including the following
  counties, Grayson and Smyth.

* WHEN...Until 730 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
  Water over roadways. Overflowing poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 601 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
    shortly in the advisory area. Between 2 and 2.5 inches of
    rain have fallen.
  - This includes the following streams and drainages...
    Campbell Creek, Beaver Creek, Deans Branch, East Fork Hopkins
    Branch, Houndshell Branch, Laurel Creek, Crewey Branch,
    Dickey Creek, Georges Branch, Hungry Mother Creek, Comers
    Creek, Hurricane Creek and Blue Spring Creek.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Marion...                          Saltville...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.

When it is safe to do so, please send your reports of flooding,
including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather
Service by calling toll free at 1...8 6 6...2 1 5...4 3 2 4. Reports

* WHERE...A portion of southwest Virginia, including the following
  county, Montgomery.

* WHEN...Until 730 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
  Water over roadways.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 553 PM EDT, The public reported 3 inches of rain have
    fallen near Willis Hollow Rd due to thunderstorms. Minor
    flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Between 2
    and 3 inches of rain have fallen throughout the area.
  - This includes the following streams and drainages...
    Connellys Run, Mill Creek, Dry Run, Georges Run, Craig Creek,
    Calhoun Run, Flatwoods Branch, Indian Run, Elliott Creek,
    Meadow Creek, Bonys Run, Brake Branch and Crab Creek.
    Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected
    over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
    flooding.

    rain have fallen.

  including the following counties, Greenbrier and Monroe.

* WHEN...Until 745 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
  Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos. Dangerous flows
  over low-water crossings. Water over roadways.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 437 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
    shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain
    has fallen.
  - This includes the following streams and drainages...
    Cove Branch, Bee Branch, Barbours Creek, Back Creek, Cedar
    Creek, Cove Run, Boulder Run, Corner Branch, Big Run, Cove
    Creek, Brushy Lick, Coles Run, Anthony Creek and Broad Run.
    Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are expected
    over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
    flooding.
