EVENING...
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
* WHERE...Portions of North Carolina, including the following areas,
Alleghany NC, Ashe, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry, Watauga, Wilkes and
Yadkin, Virginia, including the following areas, Alleghany VA,
Amherst, Bath, Bedford, Bland, Botetourt, Campbell, Carroll,
Craig, Floyd, Franklin, Giles, Grayson, Henry, Montgomery,
Patrick, Pittsylvania, Pulaski, Roanoke, Rockbridge, Smyth,
Tazewell and Wythe, and southeast West Virginia, including the
following areas, Eastern Greenbrier, Mercer, Monroe, Summers and
Western Greenbrier.
* WHEN...From 11 AM EDT this morning through this evening.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur
in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be
flooded. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and
rivers are possible.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Showers and thunderstorms develop early this afternoon and
into tonight. A nearby frontal boundary will provide focus
for repeated storms to develop. This along with increasing
moisture and previous heavy rainfall will set the stage for
additional flash flooding across the area.

Central and Eastern Allegany, Eastern Garrett, Extreme Western
Allegany, Washington and Western Garrett, Virginia, including the
following areas, Albemarle, Augusta, Central Virginia Blue Ridge,
Central and Southeast Prince William/Manassas/Manassas Park,
Clarke, Culpeper, Eastern Highland, Eastern Loudoun, Fairfax,
Frederick VA, Greene, Madison, Nelson, Northern Fauquier, Northern
Virginia Blue Ridge, Northwest Prince William, Orange, Page,
Rappahannock, Rockingham, Shenandoah, Southern Fauquier, Warren,

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Showers are likely with scattered to numerous thunderstorms
this afternoon and evening. Some thunderstorms will contain
heavy rainfall, with rain amounts of 1 to 2 inches in an hour
or two. Storms may also train over the same areas causing the
possibility of locally higher amounts around 3 to 5 inches.
Heavy rain in a short period of time may cause rapid rises in
creeks and streams as well as potential flash flooding in
urban areas.

* WHERE...Portions of east central, northeast, south central, and
southeast Kentucky, including the following counties, in east
central Kentucky, Bath, Elliott, Estill, Fleming, Menifee,
Montgomery, Powell and Rowan. In northeast Kentucky, Johnson and
Martin. In south central Kentucky, Laurel, Pulaski and Rockcastle.
In southeast Kentucky, Breathitt, Clay, Floyd, Jackson, Knott,
Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Magoffin, Morgan, Owsley, Perry, Pike and
Wolfe.
* WHEN...From late Tuesday morning through late Tuesday evening.
* IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding
may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings
may be flooded.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Scattered showers and thunderstorms, containing torrential
downpours, are expected to impact the area Tuesday afternoon
and evening. Rainfall totals around 1 inch are expected.
