This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for northeast Georgia, Piedmont
North Carolina, western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina.

.DAY ONE...This afternoon and tonight.

Hotter and more humid this afternoon with highs climbing into the
mid to upper 90s east of the mountains. Heat indices east of the
mountains will range from the upper 90s to lower 100s but should
remain below Heat Advisory criteria. Warm and muggy conditions are
expected tonight so those without access to air conditioning will
have a harder time cooling off.

Warm and muggy conditions can be expected each night through
Thursday so those without access to air conditioning will have a
harder time cooling off.

You can protect yourself from the heat by drinking plenty of water
to stay hydrated, wearing loose-fitting, light colored clothing, and
staying indoors in air conditioning when possible. If you have to
work outside, take regular breaks in the shade and monitor for signs
of heat illness. Make sure to check on those who are most vulnerable
to the heat. Never leave people or pets alone in a locked car.

An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect for much of the area from
late Tuesday morning through Tuesday evening. A Heat Advisory is
in effect for the central Shenandoah Valley and Potomac Highlands
for the same period.

The extended period of excessively hot and humid conditions
continues through at least Wednesday. Daily heat indices in the
afternoon and evening of 100 to 110 are expected, and up to 115
degrees is possible.
