...INCREASED FIRE DANGER THROUGH EARLY EVENING...
Relative humidity values between 20 and 25 percent will combine
with wind gusts of 10 to 15 mph and dry fuels is expected this
afternoon. This will result in an increased fire danger.
People are urged to avoid outdoor burning. If you must burn, use
extreme caution since fires can grow quickly and become dangerous
in these conditions. Ensure that fire suppression equipment is
readily available. Properly extinguish and dispose of any smoking
materials.
The North Carolina Forest Service has issued a statewide ban on
all open burning until further notice, and all burning permits
have been cancelled. Residents with questions can contact their
NC Forest Service county ranger or their county fire marshal`s
office.

...ELEVATED FIRE DANGER THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING...
Relative humidity values will drop into the 20 to 30 percent for
most of the area this afternoon. In addition, winds will become
west to southwest between 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to about 15
mph...possibly higher. These conditions will lead to an increased
danger of fire spread and growth from this afternoon through
early evening.
Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether
you may burn outdoors today.

...ELEVATED THREAT FOR RAPID FIRE SPREAD POSSIBLE TODAY...
The combination of recent dry weather, relative humidity falling
to 15 to 25 percent, and sustained west to northwesterly winds
around 10 mph with gusts to around 20 mph may result in an
elevated threat for the rapid spread of fires today, particularly
from late morning through late afternoon.
Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether
you may burn outdoors. If you do burn, use extreme caution since
fires can quickly grow out of control under these conditions.

...INCREASED FIRE DANGER FROM NOON EDT TODAY THROUGH
THIS EVENING...
Thursday afternoon will again be very dry, with minimum relative
humidity in the 15-20% range across most of the region. While
winds aren`t expected to be as strong, gusts of 10-15mph are
expected during the afternoon, along with very dry fuels and
multiple ongoing wildfires. Therefore, enhanced fire danger
conditions will continue.
A statewide burn ban remains in place in both North Carolina and
South Carolina until further notice. For northeast Georgia,
consult your local burn- permitting authority on whether or not
you may burn outdoors. If you do burn, exercise extreme caution.

...INCREASED FIRE DANGER FOR CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA THIS
AFTERNOON THROUGH EVENING...
The combination of low relative humidity of 18 to 25 percent and
dry fuels will continue a risk of adverse fire behavior over
central North Carolina through this evening. While winds are not
expected to be strong, brief gusts to 15 mph are possible during
the afternoon, continuing the enhanced fire danger conditions.
