...WINTER STORM WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 AM PDT FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected above 2500 ft. Total snow accumulations
  of 15 to 20 inches with up to 30 inches along the volcanos. Winds
  gusting as
  high as 35 mph, except up to 45 mph along the peaks.

* WHERE...South Washington Cascades.

* WHEN...Until 5 AM PDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will
  likely become slick and hazardous.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...There will be a brief lull in snowfall late
  Wednesday, but will increase again with heavier precipitation.
  Heaviest snowfall expected between 5AM-5PM Wednesday, and 5AM-5PM
  Thursday. Snow levels will begin to rise above 5000 ft late
  Thursday.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Consider postponing travel until weather conditions improve.

If you must travel, be sure to slow down and allow extra time.

If your car becomes trapped in deep snow, be sure to keep your car
off to stay safe from potential carbon monoxide poisoning.

If you are using a generator, be sure to keep it outdoors and away
from windows and vents.

Be aware that walking surfaces may be slick. Walk with extra care.

Backcountry recreation is not advised.

...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 5 AM THURSDAY TO 5 AM PDT
SATURDAY...

* WHAT...For the Winter Storm Warning, heavy snow. Additional snow
  accumulations between 10 to 20 inches. For the Blizzard Warning,
  blizzard conditions expected. Total snow accumulations 8 to 12
  inches. Wind gusts will peak around 50 mph Wednesday evening and
  Wednesday night. For the Winter Storm Warning starting Thursday
  morning, heavy snow expected. Additional snow accumulations
  between 1 and 3 feet Thursday morning through Friday night.

* WHERE...Stevens Pass and Holden Village.

* WHEN...For the first Winter Storm Warning, until 6 PM PDT
  Wednesday. For the Blizzard Warning, from 6 PM Wednesday to 5 AM
  PDT Thursday. For the second Winter Storm Warning, from 5 AM
  Thursday to 5 AM PDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Visibilities may drop
  below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow during the blizzard
  warning. Strong winds could cause tree damage Wednesday evening
  and Wednesday night.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow levels will rise Wednesday evening and
  night with snow becoming heavy and wet and possibly mixing with
  rain at times.  Colder air will arrive early Thursday morning with
  temperatures dropping back into the 20s. From Wednesday morning to
  Friday night, periods of snow expected at Stehekin. Snow will
  change to rain each afternoon. Total accumulations around 6 to 12
  inches at Stehekin.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get
stranded, stay with your vehicle. For the latest travel information

If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution and be
prepared for sudden changes in visibility. Leave plenty of room
between you and the motorist ahead of you, and allow extra time to
reach your destination. Avoid sudden braking or acceleration, and be
especially cautious on hills or when making turns. Make sure your
car is winterized and in good working order.

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency. For the latest travel

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 5 PM THIS AFTERNOON
TO 5 AM PDT FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 1 and
  3 feet. Winds gusting as high as 55 mph between 8 PM Wednesday and
  11 AM Thursday.

* WHERE...Upper Slopes of the Eastern Washington Cascades Crest.

* WHEN...From 5 PM this afternoon to 5 AM PDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Significant snowfall with periods of heavy snowfall
  rates will combine with low visibility to create difficult driving
  conditions.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow will ease late Wednesday morning through
  early Thursday morning as snow levels rise, bringing a wintery mix
  or rain before decreasing Thursday and heavy snow returning to the
  passes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely
necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider taking a winter
storm kit along with you, including such items as tire chains,
booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing.
Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help
you survive in case you become stranded.

Do not touch downed lines and report any power outages to your
electric company. Travel is highly discouraged due to slick roadways
and the possibility of downed trees and power lines.
