WEDNESDAY FOR WIND AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR FIRE WEATHER
ZONES 492, 495, 497, AND 498...

The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a Red
Flag Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in
effect from noon today to 9 PM MDT Wednesday.

* AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zone 492 Central Utah West
  Desert, Fire Weather Zone 495 Color Country West Desert, Fire
  Weather Zone 497 Mojave Desert and Fire Weather Zone 498 Grand
  Staircase.

* WINDS...Southwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph during
  the afternoon and evening hours today and Wednesday, with weaker
  winds during the overnight hours.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Daytime humidities as low as 10 percent
  today and 8 percent on Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Critical fire weather conditions are expected. Any
  new fire starts or existing fires may spread rapidly.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are
either occurring now...or are imminent. A combination of strong
winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.

* AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zone 427 Goose Creek and Raft
  River Valley/Southern Sawtooth NF/Twin Falls BLM south of the
  Snake River.

* IMPACTS...Critical fire weather conditions are expected to
  develop Tuesday. Lightning may generate new fire starts. New
  starts may spread rapidly.

* THUNDERSTORMS...Both wet and dry thunderstorms expected with
  25 to 35 percent coverage.

* OUTFLOW WINDS...Gusts of 30 to 40 mph are possible.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly based on these criteria
for Southeastern Idaho:

- Relative humidity at or below 15 percent and wind gusts of at
least 25 mph in the mountains, or 30 mph in the Snake Plain.

- Thunderstorm coverage of 25 percent, without specific rainfall
criteria.

- Other high impact events deemed critical by the National
Weather Service and area fire management agencies.
