...EXTREME HEAT WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 8 PM CDT WEDNESDAY...
* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 111
expected today and tomorrow.
* WHERE...Franklin County.
* WHEN...For the first Extreme Heat Warning, until 8 PM CDT this
evening. For the second Extreme Heat Warning, from noon to 8 PM
CDT Wednesday.
* IMPACTS...The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
could create a dangerous situation in which heat related illnesses
are more likely.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car
interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

...EXTREME HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM CDT THURSDAY...
* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values peaking
over 110 each afternoon for many locations.
* WHERE...Portions of central, eastern, north central, southeast,
and western Arkansas.
* WHEN...Until 9 PM CDT Thursday.
* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat and high humidity events.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
