  The Appomattox River At Mattoax
* until late tonight...or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 10:30 AM Friday the stage was 21.8 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring.
* Flood stage is 21.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will continue to fall to below flood stage by
  tonight.
* At 21.0 feet...Agricultural and pasture land flooded.

This river level is comparable to a previous crest of 22.1 feet on
Dec 14 2009.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Do not drive vehicles through flooded areas. Most flood deaths occur
in automobiles when people try to drive through flooded areas.

The Flood Warning continues for
  The Contentnea Creek Near Hookerton.
* until further notice.
* At  8 PM Friday the stage was 17.9 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 13.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will continue to fall to a stage of 16.4 feet
  by Sunday morning.
* Impact...At 18.0 feet...Water floods some homes along Water Street
  in Grifton, as well as some businesses just to the east of the
  bridge on HWY 118. Water surrounds homes in Tick Bite. HWY 123 just
  north of the bridge in Hookerton floods. Water threatens homes on
  Loop Road and Four Way Road between Snow Hill and Hookerton, as
  well as further upstream in northwest Greene County.

  Southeastern Johnston County in central North Carolina...

* Until 800 PM EDT Saturday

* At 1204 PM EDT, county officials and the public reported multiple
  road closures due to high water.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Fayetteville, Goldsboro, Clinton, Fort Bragg, Mount Olive, Walnut
  Creek, Harrells, Godwin, Pope AFB and Hope Mills.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.

  the Lower Roanoke River At Roanoke Rapids.
* At  8:45 AM Friday the stage was 8.3 feet.
* Flood stage is 9.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will rise above flood stage by early tomorrow
  morning and continue to rise to near 9.3 feet by Sunday evening.
* Impact...At 9.0 feet, Minor flood stage. Farmlands and timberlands
  adjacent to the river in Roanoke Rapids flood.
