* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 15.1 feet by
  early Friday afternoon. The river will fall below flood stage
  Friday evening.
* At 16.0 feet...Lowlands on the righthandside upstream of the gage
  begin to flood.
This river level is comparable to a previous crest of 15.1 feet on
Feb 5 2016.

* Forecast...The river, which crested at 21.8 FT Wednesday, will
  continue to fall today before rising again to a secondary
  crest near 18.9 feet by early Saturday morning. The river will fall
  below flood stage early Sunday morning.
This river level is comparable to a previous crest of 19.5 feet on
Jan 19 2013.

  before midnight.
* At 25.0 feet...Agricultural and some secondary roads flooded.
This river level is comparable to a previous crest of 23.8 feet on

* Forecast...The river will rise above flood stage by tomorrow
  afternoon and continue to rise to near 17.4 feet by early Tuesday
  morning. Additional rises are possible thereafter.
* At 18.5 feet...Hancock Peanut Mill is affected in Courtland.
This river level is comparable to a previous crest of 17.6 feet on
Apr 3 2010.

  Saturday morning. Additional rises may be possible thereafter.
* Impact...At 9.0 feet, farmlands and timberlands adjacent to the
  river in Roanoke Rapids flood.

  Saturday morning.
* Impact...At 11.0 feet, The river widens up to 400 feet across. It
  floods pasturelands on the right bank and woodlands on the left.

* At 6:45 PM Thursday the stage was 11.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 9.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue to fall to below flood stage by
  tomorrow evening.
* Impact...9.0 feet is Minor flood stage. Flooding is likely upstream
  of the gage site along North Plank Road just south of highway 421
  in Lee county, and on R Jordan Road north of highway 421 in Chatham
  county. At the gage site, flooding reaches the base of the river
  gage housing, but is confined to woods and pasture immediately
  adjacent to the river.

The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a

  Rain and Snowmelt in...
  East central Madison County in northwestern Virginia...
  Central Orange County in central Virginia...
  Southwestern Culpeper County in northern Virginia...

* Until 200 AM EST Friday.

* At 756 PM EST, stream gauges indicated water levels were rising on
  the Robinson River at Locust Dale and flood stage will be reached
  this evening. At 7:51 PM, the gauge reported 10.90 feet and levels
  are still rising. At 11.0 feet, water will cover a portion of
  Route 721, Robinson River Road. Agricultural flooding also begins
  at this level.

* Some locations that may experience flooding include...
  Brightwood, Rapidan, Oakpark and Locust Dale.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All
interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.

* Impact...At 18.0 feet, the Smithfield town park and the Neuse
  riverwalk at the US70 bridge are flooded.
* Impact...At 15.0 feet, flooding begins along the Neuse riverwalk.
  Water nears the base of the holding tank at the water treatment
  plant.

 ...As much as 1.5 inches of rain have fallen overnight and
 this morning in the Dan River basin, and this has led to rises in the
 headwaters of the Dan. Local runoff and excess water upstream will
 cause the Dan River at Danville to experiences rises to above
 minor flood stage levels.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Do not drive through flooded areas...the water may be much deeper
than you think.

 will slow the rate of fall and cause rises at South Boston tomorrow.
