* SURF OR RIP CURRENT RISK... Nearshore waves of 8 to 12 feet
  will bring dangerous surf and rip currents.

A High Surf Advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in
the advisory area...producing localized beach erosion and
dangerous swimming conditions.

...MINOR WATER LEVEL RISES TO OCCUR ALONG THE SOUNDSIDE OUTER
BANKS TONIGHT INTO EARLY FRIDAY WITH STRONG WESTERLY FLOW...

...HIGH SURF ADVISORY CONTINUES FOR THE BEACHES FROM CARTERET
COUNTY NORTH OVERNIGHT...

.Strong westerly winds will develop over the area tonight into
early Friday after a cold front crosses the area this evening.
Seas are currently running 10 to 14 feet this evening with
breaking surf 8 feet or higher and will slowly subside overnight
as the flow becomes offshore.

The strong westerly winds will gust at times to 35 knots and will
help to produce minor water level rises up to 2 feet above normal
from late this evening into early Friday along the Outer Banks
adjacent to the Pamlico Sound.

EVENING TO 10 AM EST FRIDAY...

* LOCATIONS...Beaches from Carteret county north to the Outer
  Banks.

* TIDAL DEPARTURE...water level rises along the Outer Banks up
  to 2 feet above normal from late this evening through early
  Saturday.

* SURF HEIGHT...8 feet or more this evening subsiding overnight.

* TIMING...Overnight.

* IMPACTS...Dangerous surf and rip currents. Minor beach erosion.

* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Minor water level rises up to 2 feet
  above normal will produce minor soundside coastal flooding
  along the Outer Banks late this evening through early Saturday.

* SHORELINE IMPACTS...Dangerous surf and rip currents. Minor
  beach erosion.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A High Surf Advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in
the advisory area, producing localized beach erosion and
dangerous swimming conditions.

A Coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides
will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.
