- At 706 PM EDT, gauge reports indicated heavy rain. Flooding
is already occurring in the warned area. Fish Creek at Becks
Grove crested earlier today near 22.8 feet and is currently
at 21.7 feet and only slowly receding. Water levels are
expected to continue to slowly recede through the late
evening hours.
- Flood is likely ongoing and will only slowly improve
overnight. The water level on Oneida Lake at Sylvan Beach
continues to rise.

runoff from recent rainfall and snow melt. A portion of Route 28
between White Creek Road and Mechanic Street in Newport is closed
due to water over the road.

- At 243 PM EDT, emergency management reported the West Canada
Creek rising and over topping its banks. This has led to
flooding of sections of Route 28. The West Canada Creek will
crest later this afternoon but remain in moderate flood stage
until early Thursday morning. It is expected to drop below
flood stage by Thursday evening.

* WHAT...Minor small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is
expected along the Salmon River.
* WHERE...A portion of central New York, including the following
county, Oswego.
* WHEN...Until 545 AM EDT Thursday.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying areas along the Salmon River
will continue today. Fisherman should avoid the river with high
flows creating dangerous conditions.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 551 AM EDT, gauge reports indicated high flows on the
Salmon River resulting from heavy rainfall and snowmelt from
the Tug Hill Plateau. Water releases will continue from the
Salmon River Reservoir through at least tonight.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Areas along the Salmon River from Altmar downstream through
Pulaski to the mouth at Lake Ontario.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for northern New York, central
Vermont, northeast Vermont, northwest Vermont and southern Vermont.
.DAY ONE...This afternoon and tonight.
There is the potential for some wintry mix precipitation late
tonight into early Thursday in southern and south-central Vermont,
including a glaze of ice on elevated surfaces like bridges and
overpasses.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday.
Chances for precipitation return Thursday into Friday, including
potential for wintry mix and icing, mainly in the northern
Adirondacks, Greens, and east of the Greens. Slick travel conditions
are possible for the Thursday morning and evening commutes.
Active weather continues this weekend with gusty southerly winds
across the Champlain Valley and higher elevations along with periods
of rain. At this point, all rivers are forecast to remain within
banks, but we continue to monitor river rises.
