This Outlook is for Northwest and West Central Arkansas as well as
much of Eastern Oklahoma.
.DAY ONE...This Evening and Tonight.
WINTER WEATHER.
RISK...Limited.
AREA...Much of Eastern Oklahoma and Northwest Arkansas.
ONSET...After Midnight.
DISCUSSION...
Areas of drizzle and freezing drizzle may develop across portions
of northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas after midnight
tonight. A light glaze of ice is possible on elevated surfaces,
including bridges and overpasses, which may impact travel
conditions early in the day Thursday. As a disturbance moves
through the region overnight into Thursday morning, a narrow band
of wintry mix or snow may spread east into parts of eastern
Oklahoma roughly near the Interstate 40 corridor. This band of
heavier precipitation may lead to minor accumulations, though any
snow or sleet accumulation is likely to remain less than one
inch. Regardless, travel impacts may result from any wintry
precipitation.
SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT...
Spotter Activation Not Expected.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday.
THURSDAY...Winter Weather Potential.
FRIDAY through TUESDAY...No Hazards.
EXTENDED DISCUSSION...
The aforementioned narrow band of wintry mix or snow will
continue into Thursday morning near the Interstate 40 corridor,
with some travel impacts possible. Elsewhere, areas of freezing
drizzle or flurries will end by late Thursday morning. The
Thursday morning commute may be impacted, so please monitor road
conditions and allow for extra travel time. Temperatures will
begin a warming trend on Friday and dry weather is forecast this
weekend into early next week. Another storm system will move near
the area late this weekend but impacts are currently expected to
remain north of the area.
