...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 AM CDT TUESDAY FOR
NORTHWESTERN DICKINSON AND SOUTHERN OTTAWA COUNTIES...
At 1001 PM CDT, Public reported one foot of water over all the roads
in Abilene and water up to the bumper of cars along 4th street in
Abilene. the public reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain
across the warned area. Between 2.5 and 4.5 inches of rain have
fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in
the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Public reported one foot of water over all the roads in
Abilene and water up to the bumper of cars along 4th
street in Abilene.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Abilene, Chapman, Solomon, Enterprise, Bennington, Tescott,
Culver, Niles, Talmage and Moonlight.
This includes Interstate 70 between mile markers 267 and 286.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
