...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 1245 AM EDT WEDNESDAY...
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...Portions of central Upper and western Upper Michigan,
including the following counties, in central Upper Michigan,
Baraga. In western Upper Michigan, Houghton and Ontonagon.
* WHEN...Until 1245 AM EDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 947 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain
have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Baraga, L`anse, Keweenaw Bay, Nisula, Prickett Dam, Pelkie,
Assinins, Alston, Pequaming, Echo Lake and Bob Lake.

* WHERE...A portion of western Upper Michigan, including the
following counties, Gogebic and Ontonagon.
* WHEN...Until 1115 PM CDT /1215 AM EDT/.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 806 PM CDT /906 PM EDT/, Doppler radar indicated heavy
rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or
expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5
and 1 inch of rain has fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are possible
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Porcupine Mountains State Park, Ironwood, Bessemer,
Wakefield, Marenisco, Bergland, Northern Lake Gogebic, Clark
Lake, Merriweather, Lake Gogebic State Park, Presque Isle
Reservoir, Thomaston, Chaney Lake, Copper Peak, Ironwood
Airport and Ewen.

* WHERE...In Minnesota, Pine County and Wisconsin, Burnett, Douglas,
Sawyer and Washburn Counties.
* WHEN...Until 1145 PM CDT Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Overflowing poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or
other areas is occurring or is imminent.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 741 PM CDT Tuesday, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due
to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to
begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 3 inches
of rain have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over
the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Pine City, Spooner, Hayward, Hinckley, Sandstone, Rock Creek,
Grantsburg, Round Lake, Trego, Trade Lake, Siren, Webster,
Minong, Askov, Webb Lake Wisconsin, Brook Park, Henriette,
Danbury, Saint Croix Band Pike Lake area and Saint Croix Band
Sand Lake Area.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and to the National Weather Service in Duluth when you
can do so safely. Flooding can be reported to the National Weather
Service at 1-800-685-8612.

occurring or is imminent.

- At 740 PM CDT Tuesday, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due
to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to
begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1.5 and 5 inches
of rain have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Superior, Ashland, Moose Lake, Washburn, Sanborn, Hawthorne,
Iron River, Lake Nebagamon, Cable, Barnes, Wascott, Maple,
Barksdale, Brule, Barnum, Poplar, Solon Springs, Oulu,
Bayfield and Drummond.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Campers and hikers should avoid flooded trail crossings. If camping
at a site along or near the banks of rivers or streams, move away
from those locations and seek higher ground. Trails in hilly terrain
can quickly become unstable during or shortly after heavy rainfall.
Report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and to the National Weather Service in Duluth when you
can do so safely. Flooding can be reported to the National Weather
Service at 1-800-685-8612.
