...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in
Illinois...

  Illinois River at La Salle affecting Putnam, Bureau and La Salle
  Counties.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flood Warning means water levels above flood stage are imminent or
may already be occurring. Persons along rivers and streams in the
warned area should take immediate precautions to protect life and
property.

These forecasts are based on observed precipitation as well as
forecast precipitation 24 hours into the future. Changes to the
rainfall forecast, or any additional rainfall after 24 hours, may
cause changes to these river forecasts.

  confluence with Big Bureau Creek, including the La Salle gauge.

* WHEN...Until Wednesday morning.

* IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, Agricultural areas in La Salle, Spring
  Valley, and Peru are inundated.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 7:45 PM CDT Tuesday the stage was 20.3 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage early
    Wednesday morning and continue falling.
  - Flood stage is 20.0 feet.

  - At 7:45 PM CDT Tuesday the stage was 23.8 feet.
  - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
    ending at 7:45 PM CDT Tuesday was 24.7 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
    tomorrow morning and continue falling to 10.1 feet Tuesday,
    August 25.
  - Flood stage is 22.0 feet.

...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in
Indiana...Illinois...

  Wabash River at Covington down to Vincennes.

...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Indiana...

  Wabash River at Lafayette.

.Heavy to extreme rainfall across northern central Indiana
since last week has produced minor to moderate flooding along most
of the Wabash River from Lafayette down to Riverton...with the crest
in moderate flood currently passing Montezuma.  Moderate flooding
will end at Covington pre-dawn Wednesday...while starting at Terre
Haute.  Flooding will end at Lafayette by midday Wednesday...with
flooding starting at Vincennes by early Thursday.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

The next statement should be issued Wednesday afternoon by around
200 PM EDT /100 PM CDT/.

* WHAT...Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is
  forecast.

* WHERE...Wabash River at Covington.

* WHEN...Until early Saturday morning.

* IMPACTS...At 25.0 feet, Many local roads are impassable.  High
  water backs up into Mud Run, cutting off some county roads just
  northwest of Covington.  North Sandhill Road begins to flood from
  Mallory Branch.  Mud Creek extensively floods W CR 260 N and
  Sandhill Road by backwater from the Wabash River.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 6:45 PM EDT Tuesday the stage was 24.7 feet.
  - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
    ending at 6:45 PM EDT Tuesday was 25.2 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
    Friday afternoon and continue falling and remain below flood
    stage.
  - Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
