...Elevated Fire Weather Conditions for Southern Minnesota Today...

The combination of near record to record temperatures, southerly
winds gusting into the 30 to 40 mph range, and dry fuels will
result in elevated fire weather conditions for this afternoon
across southern Minnesota.

Under these conditions, fires will start and spread easily.
Please exercise caution with any activities that involve outdoor
fires or create sparks, including campfires, grilling, and
operating large equipment. Cigarettes should be disposed of and
extinguished properly. Please heed any local burn bans.

...ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS TODAY FOR EAST-CENTRAL
MINNESOTA...

The combination of record high temperatures, gusty south winds,
and dry fuels will lead to elevated fire weather conditions today.
South winds of 15 to 20 mph with gusts of 25 to 35 mph are
forecast for this afternoon/evening. Minimum relative humidity
values around 40 percent are also expected. These conditions could
lead to the rapid spread of fires. Check burning restrictions and
fire danger before burning.

gusting 30 to 40 MPH, and dry crops and/or grasses will result in
elevated fire danger with dangerous burning conditions this
afternoon.

Fires will spread rapidly and show erratic behavior. Outdoor
burning is not recommended. People are urged to exercise extreme
care with respect to outdoor activities that could cause grass
or crop fires. Avoid equipment that can cause sparks. Do not toss
cigarettes on the ground. Report new fires quickly to the nearest
fire department or law enforcement office.
