...FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM CDT SUNDAY...

The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of southeast Kansas and
Missouri, including the following areas, in southeast Kansas,
Bourbon, Cherokee, and Crawford. In Missouri, Barry, Barton,
Cedar, Christian, Dade, Dallas, Greene, Jasper, Laclede,
Lawrence, McDonald, Newton, Polk, Stone, Vernon, Webster, and
  Wright.

* Until 7 AM CDT Sunday

* Showers and thunderstorms are expected to affect the area late
this evening through tonight. The air mass is conducive for
heavy rain, which may cause flash flooding where storms
repeatedly move over the same areas. There is uncertainty with
exactly where the heaviest rain will fall, but generally expect
1 to 3 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts, over
portions of the area covered by the watch.

* Given the moist soil conditions from previous rains this month,
rapid onset flash flooding will be likely.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
