The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
  Southeastern Lunenburg County in south central Virginia...
  Western Mecklenburg County in south central Virginia...

* Until 930 PM EDT.

* At 624 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
  thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding.
  Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Chase City, Clarksville, Buffalo Springs, Rogers Corner, Skipwith,
  Wightman, Finchley, Wilburn, Gary, Buffalo Junction and Oral Oaks.

Additional rainfall of up to 1.5 inches is expected over the area.
This additional rain will result in minor flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or
ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a

* Flood Advisory for...
  Northwestern Carroll County in southwestern Virginia...
  Southeastern Wythe County in southwestern Virginia...

* Until 845 PM EDT.

* At 548 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
  thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
  shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain
  have fallen.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Ivanhoe.

Additional rainfall of 1 to 1.5 inches is expected over the area.
This additional rain will result in minor flooding.

This includes the following streams and drainages...
  Mill Creek, Rocky Branch, Buddle Branch, Shorts Creek, New River,
  Cedar Run, Cripple Creek and Little Reed Island Creek.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles. Hydroplaning will become more likely as
water collects on road surfaces, including Interstate-77.

When it is safe to do so, please send your reports of flooding,
including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather
Service by calling toll free at 1...8 6 6...2 1 5...4 3 2 4. Reports
