* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue to fall to below flood stage by
  after midnight tomorrow.
* Impact...At 20.0 feet, Major Flood Stage. Flooding cuts off the
  water treatment plants access to the reservoir.
* Impact...At 18.0 feet, Moderate flood stage. The Smithfield town
  park and the Neuse riverwalk at the US70 bridge are flooded.
* Impact...At 15.0 feet, Minor flood stage. Flooding begins along the
  Neuse riverwalk. Water nears the base of the holding tank at the
  water treatment plant.

* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 10.7 feet by
  Friday morning. The river will fall below flood stage Friday
  evening.
* Impact...At 9.0 feet, Minor flood stage. Flooding is likely upstream
  of the gage site along North Plank Road just south of highway 421
  in Lee county, and on R Jordan Road north of highway 421 in Chatham
  county. At the gage site, flooding reaches the base of the river
  gage housing, but is confined to woods and pasture immediately
  adjacent to the river.

Virginia...

  Dan River at Paces affecting Halifax County
  Dan River at South Boston affecting Halifax County

The Dan River at Paces was falling but will have a secondary crest due to
additional rainfall from Wednesday night and today. South Boston on the
Dan River had crested in the Moderate category Wednesday evening and will
have a secondary rise, also in the Moderate flooding category on Friday.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Do not drive through flooded areas...the water may be much deeper
than you think.

* The river will continue falling to near 20 feet by this evening then
  rising to near 23.8 feet by Friday evening. The river will fall below
  flood stage Saturday evening.
* Impact...at 24.0 feet...Low spots along Routes 658 and 671 begin
  to flood.
* Flood history...this crest compares to a previous crest of 23.6
  feet on Dec 26 2015.

Virginia...

  Dan River at Paces affecting Halifax County
  Dan River at South Boston affecting Halifax County

The Dan River at Paces was falling but will have a secondary crest due to
additional rainfall from Wednesday night and today. South Boston on the
Dan River had crested in the Moderate category Wednesday evening and will
have a secondary rise, also in the Moderate flooding category on Friday.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Do not drive through flooded areas...the water may be much deeper
than you think.

* Flood stage is 19.0 feet.
* The river will continue to fall to near 23.5 feet by this evening then
  rise to near 25.9 feet by Saturday morning. The river will fall below
  flood stage Sunday evening.
* Impact...at 27.0 feet...Water approaches Route 501.
* Flood history...this crest compares to a previous crest of 25.6
  feet on May 19 2018.

* At  7:00 PM Wednesday the stage was 16.84 feet.
* Flood stage is 13.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 16.9 feet by tomorrow
  morning then begin falling.
* Impact...At 17.0 feet...Flooding worsens west of Interstate 95 and water may
  begin surrounding homes in the Pines and Coxs Pond areas. Homes off River Road
  may become isolated by flood waters. Water may also affect yards off
  Planetarium Road and fields off deep Branch Road. East of Lumberton, the
  lowest homes in the Pines area may be flooded and homes may be surrounded by
  water in the Pines area and between the Pepsi plant and the river. Chickenfoot
  Road, Noir Street and Hestertown Road may be impassable.

  morning.
* Impact...At 52 feet...Extensive flooding will occur along the left bank of
  the river. Water levels will reach the door sill of the USGS well house.
