Regional Weather Summary
National Weather Service State College PA
147 PM EDT Wed Jun 12 2024

An area of high pressure over the Commonwealth today will supply
us with abundant sunshine and warmer temperatures. A further
increase in heat and humidity will follow for Thursday and Friday
as the high drifts off the Mid Atlantic Coast and a southwesterly
flow develops.

High temperatures this afternoon will be a few degrees either side
of normal, ranging from the low to mid 70s across the higher
terrain of Northern and Western Pennsylvania to the low 80s in
the Southeastern PA Metro Areas.

Lows tonight under mainly clear skies with a light southwest
breeze will range through the 50s.

A cold frontal passage on Friday will spark a round or two of
showers and scattered thunderstorms, some of which could become
strong to severe and produce gusty winds, frequent lightning and
hail.

An expansive dome of high pressure at the surface and aloft,
extending from the Southern Plains and Mid Mississippi Valley to
the Mid Atlantic Region, will bring an increased risk of
excessive heat early next week with highs in the 80s and 90s and
heat index values possibly exceeding 100F.
