.DISCUSSION...

Search site and General Ely Forecast -

Sunny skies to start the day with southerly winds increasing
through the day. Highs will soar into the mid 70s with winds
gusting into the lower teens by the afternoon. There is a band of
showers entering central MN this morning that has a 20% chance of
holding together and moving over the International Border by early
afternoon. The main show will be in the overnight hours as a
strong convective system moves out of the Dakotas and across the
Upper Midwest. Most of the high res guidance has this line of
activity entering the forecast site after midnight. We currently
expect it to lose a lot of its strength by the time it moves this
far east with main threats being lightning, moderate rainfall, and
some breezy winds up to 50 mph. Depending on how storms track some
minor flooding/ponding will be possible.

Ely Visibility and Ceilings -

VFR conditions through the day. Conditions begin to deteriorate
this evening as a line of showers and storms enter from the west.
Currently expect this line to breach Ely after midnight with
ceilings quickly falling to MVFR thereafter.
