exiting clouds continue over eastern Iowa and clouds associated with
the showers northwest are spreading into northwest and western Iowa

northwest to the mid to upper 50s in the south. Winds are generally
light northwest over central to eastern Iowa while light winds are
occurring over the northwest.

A patch of morning showers will move southeast over the region this
morning with a few rumbles of thunder possible. As we move into the
afternoon hours, the chances for a few stronger storms increases
from noon northwest through about 7 pm in central and eastern Iowa
just prior to sunset. A few storms may produce strong winds and
possible hail today. With outdoor activities still in full swing for
the holiday, stay weather aware during the afternoon and early
evening hours. Highs will reach the mid to upper 60s north and
northeast while the remainder of Iowa will see highs in the 70s to
around 80 southwest.

Tonight and beyond:

Tonight the area will quiet down once again with a few lingering
showers northeast to midnight. After a cool front passes southeast,
lows will fall to the upper 40s northwest to the lower 50s south and
east. Tuesday yet another weak system in northwest flow will track
across the Northern Plains and arrive in Iowa by mid to late morning.
Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will develop during the
afternoon. Highs Tuesday will reach the mid 60s northeast to the mid
to upper 70s southwest. Tuesday night will be clear and cooler with
lows in the mid 40s to around 50 south. We finally catch a break from
the active weather with a beautiful day Wednesday and most of
Thursday. Highs each day will be in the upper 60s to lower 70s
northeast while the remainder of the state will see 70s. By late
Thursday afternoon, another system will bring shower and thunderstorm
chances to the region into Saturday. Highs late in the week will
remain in the lower to upper 70s; slightly cooler Friday than Thursday
and Saturday, due to the more widespread shower chances.
