593 FXUS65 KFGZ 261719 AFDFGZ Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Flagstaff AZ 1019 AM MST Sun May 26 2024 .SYNOPSIS...Expect a warming trend beginning today and continuing into next week. Winds will not be as strong, but will gust from 10 to 20 mph each afternoon, especially over higher terrain. && .UPDATE...Yesterday`s shortwave has passed well to the east with a dry westerly flow aloft in place. Today will begin a warming trend that lasts into the coming week. Temperatures will be roughly 5 degrees warmer today than yesterday, and much lighter winds are in store. Forecast trends are on track with no morning updates needed. && .PREV DISCUSSION /435 AM MST/...Our s/wv has passed by to the north and we are all done with strong winds and enhanced fire danger, for now. The door is open for higher heights going forward, as the northern stream of the jet becomes more progressive. This means a warming trend for our area, most locations rising just a bit above normal heading into next week. We will remain dry and since this is not an amplified ridge pattern, expect normal diurnal breezes from 10-20 mph each afternoon. && .AVIATION...Sunday 26/18Z through Monday 27/18Z...VFR conditions will continue through the TAF period under clear skies. Winds W to SW at 5-15 kts through 03Z becoming light overnight. OUTLOOK...Monday 27/18Z through Wednesday 29/18Z...VFR conditions are expected.
