.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 430 AM EDT Sun Jun 9 2024
A stretch of showers with the occasional lightning strike are
still working their way northward through the Florida Keys and
surrounding waters this very early morning. Today will look
similar to yesterday where there is plenty of sunshine available
during the morning and afternoon, but some showers and
thunderstorms will find their home over the surrounding waters in
the later afternoon and evening hours later today. Highs today
will be near 90, and dewpoints in the upper 70s will lead to heat
indices just barely passing the 100-degree mark during peak
heating. While this does sound like a typical Florida day in the
summer, it still looks like this will be the only day that looks
like this for the rest of the forecast period.

Confidence remains elevated that we are entering an extended
period of wetter weather. A developing Central American Gyre will
help to push moisture into the region, and the unstable
environment will set us up for a mix of showers and thunderstorms
through the rest of the week. As the forecast stands, the wettest
days with the greatest areal coverage are still expected to be
Tuesday through Thursday, but that`s not to take away from the
possibility of activity on Monday and the end of the week. There
is still some question as to just how much rainfall we will see,
but the overall picture of a wet and soggy week ahead remains.

.MARINE...
Issued at 430 AM EDT Sun Jun 9 2024
There are currently no watches, warnings, or advisories in effect
across the Florida Keys. From synopsis, the pattern will feature
weak high pressure over the western North Atlantic and a frontal
boundary stalled over northern Florida. This will result in light
to gentle southerly breezes across the Keys coastal waters today
through Monday. Freshening breezes and an extended period of
unsettled weather may begin as early as Tuesday and will persist
through Thursday night.

.AVIATION...
(06Z TAFS)
Issued at 430 AM EDT Sun Jun 9 2024
VFR conditions continue to prevail at EYW and MTH for the
upcoming TAF period. Nocturnal showers are lingering south of the
island terminals, close enough to EYW to warrant a TEMPO group,
and are forecast to wane by sunrise. Dry conditions aloft are
expected to keep shower coverage low after sunrise which resulted
in the absence of VCSH in the TAFs, but possible showers and MVFR
conditions are possible. Near-surface winds will gradually shift
from south- southwesterly to south-southeasterly at 5 to 10 knots.
