National Weather Service Elko NV
115 AM PDT Sun May 26 2024

.SYNOPSIS...
A warming trend will begin as weak ridge of high pressure builds
over the area. Afternoon highs will trend upwards into the mid
80s by Tuesday. An approaching Pacific Northwest trough will lead
to a chance of showers and thunderstorms in northeastern Nevada on
both Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon. Highs will moderate through
the end of the work week, but will rebound next weekend.

&&

.SHORT TERM...Sunday and Monday

A cool start to this morning across the region after yesterday`s
disturbance. However, temperatures will rise today across the
Intermountain West as high pressure aloft begins to build over the
area. Afternoon highs are forecast to trend upwards several
degrees today, with highs in the mid to upper 70s generally
occurring across the forecast area.

The warming trend continues into Monday due to the ridge axis
being directly over Nevada. Highs across the region again will
rise several degrees on Monday. Highs in the upper 70s to mid 80s
are forecast with sunny skies. Dry weather is forecast across the
entire forecast area under the ridge pattern both Sunday and
Monday.

.LONG TERM...Tuesday through next Sunday

A trough approaches from the Pacific Northwest, bringing light
rain showers with isolated thunderstorms across far northeastern
Nevada Tuesday and Wednesday. Dry conditions for the rest of the
CWA with increasing west-northwest winds by midweek. As the trough
progresses eastward, a ridge of high pressure builds over the
region. High temperatures will gradually warm into the upper 70s
and lower 80s by late next week with overnight lows in the upper
30s and lower 40s.
