.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 139 PM CDT Sat Sep 14 2024

Have maintained dry conditions in the forecast through at least
the upcoming week and potentially through next weekend. Little
low and mid-level cloud cover today speaks to the lack of
moisture throughout the column as the area remains situated
between a mid-level wave lifting northeastward toward Minnesota
and the remnants of Post Tropical Cyclone Francine over the
mid-Mississippi River Valley. Correspondingly, the chance for
sparse mid-level showers brushing the western CWA tonight
continues to diminish.

With another tropical system poised to develop off the
Carolinas early next week before drifting N/NNW across the Mid-
Atlantic, the overall flow across the east half of the CONUS
will remain blocked. This should keep our area firmly situated
on the western extent of an expansive and persistent surface
ridge. Daytime highs in the mid to locally upper 80s and lows in
the upper 50s to mid 60s will be common amid southeast to
easterly winds. Worsening drought conditions will be the main
focus through the forecast period with nearly our entire
forecast area in D0 (abnormally dry) status and a couple small
areas now in D1 (moderate drought) status.

.AVIATION /18Z TAFS THROUGH 00Z MONDAY/...
Issued at 1208 PM CDT Sat Sep 14 2024

No forecast concerns through the TAF period as high pressure
will remain over the Great Lakes. East-southeast winds are
expected to prevail through Sunday afternoon with speeds
generally in the 5 to 10 kt range during the day and 4 to 5 kt
range overnight. Though, a lake breeze will move through GYY
this afternoon resulting in a more northeast wind direction.
Otherwise, expect some SCT to BKN VFR cirrus to linger overhead
through the period.
