094 FZUS63 KMQT 032003 GLFLS Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior National Weather Service Marquette MI 403 PM EDT Mon Jun 3 2024 For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior. Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum. .SYNOPSIS...Lake Superior is currently set between 30.0 inch ridging over Quebec and a new trough of 29.4 inches developing off the northern Rockies. On Tuesday, 29.2 inch low pressure tracking across the Canadian Prairies will power the trough eastward to the Upper Mississippi Valley. The trough will then sail across Lake Superior Tuesday night and Wednesday morning while the parent low pressure tracks from the Canadian Prairies toward northern Ontario. The low weakens to 29.5 inches over far northeastern Ontario Thursday through Thursday night while a 30.0 inch ridge builds southeast into the Northern and Central Plains. This ridge will drift toward the Mississippi Valley on Friday while the low over far northeastern Ontario drifts east into Quebec, weakening to 29.6 inches.
