Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
249 PM CDT Fri May 24 2024

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM CDT /9 AM MDT/ TO 10 PM
CDT /9 PM MDT/ SATURDAY FOR RELATIVE HUMIDITY VALUES AS LOW AS 4
PERCENT, 20 FT WINDS GREATER THAN 20 MPH, AND EXTREME FIRE
DANGER...

.DISCUSSION...

Poor moisture recovery persists each morning along and west of
the Pecos with humidity falling to 4 percent each afternoon
through Monday. Increased winds send fire conditions towards
critical to extreme levels for Saturday and a Red Flag Warning
is in effect across southeastern New Mexico and portions of west
Texas. Lighter winds limit fire concerns largely to the western
high terrain on Sunday. Low fire concerns follow for Monday and
through the end of the work week with better moisture, chances of
wetting rains, and light winds.
