Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
338 PM CDT Sun Jun 9 2024

.DISCUSSION...

While winds largely remain weak throughout the weak and limit
critical fire weather conditions, critical humidity sets up out west
each afternoon. This paired with the very dry fuels favors the
threat for IA fire starts which is exaggerated by the chance for
afternoon thunderstorms and a threat of lightning starts across the
Davis Mountains and western high terrain nearly each afternoon
through next week. Today and tomorrow could see more scattered storms
across the Permian Basin as well. Tomorrow features a the coolest day
through the next week with high heat returning for the second half
of the upcoming week.
