Areas affected...Parts of the Mid Atlantic

Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 325...

Valid 270218Z - 270345Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 325
continues.

SUMMARY...Some damaging-wind threat may persist into late this
evening.

DISCUSSION...A long-lived QLCS with a history of producing some wind
damage continues to move northeastward late this evening. Downstream
instability continues to diminish with the loss of diurnal heating,
but given the rather well-organized nature of the QLCS, some
damaging-wind threat may persist downstream, as it moves through a
relatively moist environment where rather strong heating occurred
earlier today.

Weakening deep-layer flow/shear with eastward extent and increasing
MLCINH should eventually result in a definitive weakening trend
later tonight. Additional downstream watch issuance is not
anticipated, but local extension may need to be considered depending
on convective trends over the next 1-2 hours.
