High clouds are streaming across the Midsouth downstream from a
complex of severe thunderstorms over the ArkLaTex. Clouds may
limit our afternoon highs, but we are already in the low to middle
80s, so I decided not to adjust temperatures much. Rain and
thunderstorms return to the Midsouth with the heaviest activity in
east central Arkansas and north Mississippi. Cooler air will
arrive in the Midsouth tomorrow and Thursday followed by gradual
warming Friday through the weekend.

Portions of the Mid-South could see areas of patchy fog over the
next couple of nights. Rain chances are possible on Wednesday,
with even greater precipitation chances starting late this week
lasting into the early part of next week. High temperatures will
be near 80 degrees for most of this week with temperatures warming
into the mid 80s by the early part of next week.

Clear skies and calm winds will continue to promote radiational
cooling as some sites across the Mid-South have reported reduced
visibilities.

Overnight water vapor analysis places an area of broad ridging
across the western half of the country and an area of broad
troughing over the eastern portions of the CONUS, with the Mid-
South in a northwesterly flow regime. Mid-level ridging is
expected to build in across the region, as the troughing over the
eastern US gradually breaks down and departs. Precipitation
chances across the Mid-South will increase on Wednesday as a
shortwave trough, embedded within the approaching ridge, moves
toward the Mid-South from Oklahoma. Greater precipitation chances
look to affect the region starting late this week potentially
lasting through early next week, as multiple mid-level
disturbances move through the region.

High temperatures are expected to be near 80 degrees through the
remainder of the week. A warming trend is expected to start early
next week as temperatures warm into the mid to upper 80s.

VFR will prevail through the next 30 hours, under west-northwest
flow aloft. A late morning bump in surface winds will arrive as
the mixing layer deepens. Based on area VAD wind profilers,
late morning/early afternoon wind speeds should average 10KT or
less.
