.DISCUSSION...
(This evening through next Sunday)
Issued at 224 PM CDT Mon May 27 2024

Surface high pressure has built in across the Midsouth resulting
in abundant sunshine. High temperatures have climbed into the
middle 80s across much of the area sparking isolated thunderstorms
across west Tennessee and north Mississippi. Warm temperatures
are expected again Tomorrow with cooler conditions midweek.
Tuesday high temperatures are expected to be in the middle 80s to
around 90 degrees.

A low amplitude long wave trough will shift across the Upper and
Middle Mississippi River Valley late tomorrow into Wednesday
along with a cold front. A shortwave will track from southeast
Oklahoma into south Mississippi possibly helping to initiate a few
showers and thunderstorms, mainly in east Arkansas and north
Mississippi Wednesday. High temperatures Wednesday are expected to
be around 80 degrees. A narrow, high amplitude ridge will quickly
shift across the Mississippi River Valley Friday followed by
negatively tilted trough on Saturday. This feature will likely
result in a wet weekend across the Midsouth.

Temperatures will trend warmer Thursday into the weekend with
highs back in the mid 80s by Sunday.
