...FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON EDT TODAY...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...Portions of southwest North Carolina, including the
  following county, Cherokee and east Tennessee, including the
  following counties, Monroe and Polk.

* WHEN...Until noon EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas will
  continue. Water over roadways. Overflowing poor drainage areas.
  Ponding of water in urban or other areas may still be occurring.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 1005 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated the heavy rain due to
    showers and strong thunderstorms has ended but light to
    moderate rain was still falling. Minor flooding may still be
    ongoing in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain
    have fallen in the past 2 hours.
  - Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are expected
    over the area. This additional rain will result in the threat
    for more minor flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Murphy, Hiawasse Dam, Unaka, Violet, Hot House, Coker Creek,
    Turtletown and Marble.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

In hilly terrain there are many low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
