Conditions given represent the highest within that period. Seas given as significant wave height, which is the average height of the highest 1/3 of the waves. Individual waves may be more than twice the significant wave height. Locally higher winds and seas can be expected in and near tstms. The National Weather Service is accepting public comments until July 29 2024 on a proposal to replace feet with meters when describing seas in a variety of National Marine Center text and graphical products for the Offshore and High Seas Areas only. Weak low pressure will form along the front SE of Hatteras Canyon this afternoon, then lift NE along the front tonight through Wed night. Weak high pressure over the Ohio Valley tonight will shift E across the N waters Wed and Wed night, then move E of the waters on Thu. Another low will form over the S waters Wed night into Thu, then move slowly NE Fri into Sat. A cold front will approach the N waters by late Fri, then move SE across the waters Fri night into Sat night. The NAVTEX transmitter in Chesapeake, Virginia is offline until further notice.
