...FLOOD ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 330 PM CDT THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois, including the following
  counties, Alexander, Massac and Pulaski, western Kentucky,
  including the following counties, Ballard, Carlisle, Fulton,
  Graves, Hickman and McCracken, and southeast Missouri, including
  the following counties, Mississippi and New Madrid.

* WHEN...Until 330 PM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
  Water over roadways.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 1113 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
    indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is
    ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area.
    Between 1.5 and 2 inches of rain have fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over
    the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Charleston, East Prairie, Cairo, Fulton, Hickman, Clinton, La
    Center, Bardwell, Wickliffe, Towosahgy State Historic Site,
    Big Oak Tree State Park, Mounds, Barlow, Mound City, Wyatt,
    Anniston, Lovelaceville, Fulgham, Cayce and Dorena.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where
you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become
killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or
creeks.
