Fire Weather Planning Forecast for NE Oregon and SE Washington
National Weather Service Pendleton OR
152 PM PDT Sun May 26 2024

.DISCUSSION...A ridge of high pressure overhead will provide
warm, mostly dry weather with light, diurnally driven winds into
Memorial Day afternoon. Increasing moisture will facilitate a
slight chance of elevated showers and thunderstorms from central
OR north to south-central WA late Memorial Day afternoon into
Tuesday morning. A trough of low pressure and accompanying cold
front will arrive Tuesday afternoon and usher in a chance of
showers and thunderstorms in the eastern mountains. Some storms
may become strong to severe in Grant, Union, and Wallowa counties
by late afternoon. Primary hazards will be gusty outflow winds,
small hail, and locally heavy rainfall. The trough passage will
also produce breezy to windy westerly winds through the Cascade
gaps and into the Columbia Basin Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday.

***Thunderstorms imply strong gusty winds***
***Winds are 20 foot 10 minute averages***
***CWR-chance of wetting rain 0.10 or greater***
