A prolonged and potentially dangerous period of excessive heat begins on Sunday and continues through next week. Main concern with storms will be the potential for damaging wind gusts. The combination of hot temperatures and humidity may result in heat index values nearing the mid to upper 90s beginning Sunday afternoon.
