588 FXUS66 KSGX 271128 AFDSGX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service San Diego CA 428 AM PDT Mon May 27 2024 .SYNOPSIS... High temperatures today for inland areas will be several degrees warmer than Sunday with little change for most areas for Tuesday and Wednesday. This will be followed by very slight day-to-day changes into early next week. These high temperatures will generally be about 5 degrees above average for the deserts and a few degrees below average for the coast and valleys. The marine layer will fluctuate around 2500 feet deep with night and morning coastal low clouds extending inland into portions of the valleys. There will be gusty southwest to west winds for the mountains and deserts for each late afternoon through late evening with the stronger gusts each day to around 25 to 35 mph. && .DISCUSSION...FOR EXTREME SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA INCLUDING ORANGE... SAN DIEGO...WESTERN RIVERSIDE AND SOUTHWESTERN SAN BERNARDINO COUNTIES... .SHORT TERM (Today through Wednesday)... High pressure to the south will bring warming today with high temperatures near the coast a few degrees warmer than Sunday to as much as 5 to 10 degrees warmer for the Inland Empire. These high temperatures are a few degrees above average for the deserts and a few degrees below average for the coast and valleys. Not much change is expected with high temperatures for Tuesday and Wednesday. The marine layer will be around 2500 feet deep with night and morning coastal low clouds spreading inland into portions of the inland valleys. && .LONG TERM (Thursday through Sunday)... Mostly minor day to day changes through next weekend with high temperatures generally around 5 degrees above average for the deserts and a few degrees below average for the coast and valleys. The marine layer will fluctuate around 2500 feet deep with night and morning coastal clouds spreading inland into portions of the valleys. There will be gusty southwest to west winds for the mountains and deserts for each late afternoon through late evening with the stronger gusts each day to around 25 to 35 mph. && .AVIATION... 270930Z...Coast/Valleys...Low clouds with bases around 1500 feet MSL and tops to 1900 feet and pockets of inland vis 2-5SM will continue to spread into western valleys through 14Z. Scatter out 16-19Z, except only partial or intermittent clearing at immediate coast. Low clouds with similar bases/vis to push ashore after 03Z and locally inland overnight into Tuesday. Mountains/Deserts...Local W-SW surface gusts 25-35 knots will occur on the desert mountain slopes and locally into the deserts after 23Z.
