739 FZUS52 KTAE 121544 SRFTAE Surf Zone Forecast National Weather Service Tallahassee FL 1144 AM EDT Wed Jun 12 2024 .THE SURF ZONE FORECAST GENERAL OUTLOOK... ...HIGH RISK OF RIP CURRENTS AT ALL LOCAL BEACHES... Although late-morning beach conditions are on the calmer side, there is a deceptively high risk of rip currents anticipated this afternoon and evening as a long-period southerly swell spreads to the coast. The West Tampa Buoy (42036) recently reported 3-ft seas with a dominant period of 8 seconds. Forecast surf heights peak at about 2 ft. In addition, winds initial east to NE winds turn onshore with the developing seabreeze today. From Thursday through this weekend, moderate to fresh southeast breezes over the distant southeast Gulf will continue to send sufficiently energetic surf to easily support a high risk of rip currents along Emerald Coast and Forgotten Coast beaches.
