...AREAS OF LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN ALONG THE GLENN HIGHWAY FOR THE
WEDNESDAY MORNING COMMUTE...

At 6:45 AM, radar indicated a band of heavy rain extending along
the Glenn Highway from northeast of Palmer to northeast Anchorage.
0.30" of rain has fallen in Palmer within the last 2 hours with
radar estimated rainfall rates of over 0.25" per hour along the
Glenn Highway. Locally heavy rain could lead to ponding of water
on area roadways and localized flooding. The heavier rain bands
are expected to taper off in intensity by 9 am; however, steady
rain will continue through Wednesday afternoon with total rainfall
amounts of 0.5" to 1" possible. Motorists are urged to slow down
and use caution when travelling.
