Issued by NWS Denver/Boulder, CO
891 FNUS55 KBOU 291117 FWFBOU Fire Weather Forecast for Northeast and North Central Colorado National Weather Service Denver/Boulder CO 517 AM MDT Wed May 29 2024 .DISCUSSION...Today and tonight...Scattered thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and evening from the Front Range eastward, with lower coverage further west. Some of the storms will produce wetting rain, mainly at lower elevations. It will become windy this afternoon over the eastern plains, with breezy conditions elsewhere. Near critical weather conditions may occur over the mountain valleys for a few hours. LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Thursday through Sunday... Scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms expected Thursday and Friday, with localized wetting rain under heavier cores, most likely for the plains. Turning drier and warmer Saturday, with significantly hotter and drier conditions by Sunday/Monday. Breezier west winds may also develop both days, leading to elevated or possibly critical fire weather conditions for any locations where fuels are susceptible. Smoke dispersal will remain favorable through the forecast period given high mixing heights. ...Thunderstorms imply strong gusty erratic winds... ...All surface winds are 20-Foot...10-Minute averaged winds... ...CWR is Chance of Wetting Rain - 0.10 inch or more liquid... ...24 HR Trends are based on averages over the respective zone groups and may not match the actual forecast values shown in those groups...
