.DISCUSSION...

Search site and General Ely Forecast -

Clearing in the morning before small area of showers and general
thunderstorms move over northern St. Louis County in the
afternoon. Probability of precipitation is fairly low (up to 30%),
but cannot be ruled out. Skies will clear again after the showers
and storms pass. Quiet weather will continue tonight into Sunday
before a large system will bring more chances for showers and
storms starting in the mid to late afternoon. Some storms could be
strong to severe with the main threat being damaging winds, but
hail up to an inch and local ponding and/or minor flooding are
also possible due to saturated soils. Rainfall totals around the
search area is expected to be around a half inch.

Ely Visibility and Ceilings -

VFR conditions are expected to prevail for the bulk of today.
However, the brief period of showers and storms this afternoon
could produce MVFR visibilities where heavier rain falls. Ceilings
with these showers and storms should remain above 5000 ft Once
these storms pass, VFR conditions will resume for the rest of the
evening and into Sunday before the system arrives in the late
afternoon and evening.
