Issued at 355 PM CDT Mon May 27 2024 High pressure builds in from the west bringing warmer temperatures with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s for Tuesday and Wednesday. A short wave trof advances east late Wednesday, moving into the High Plains. Forecast soundings show good mixing up to the 800 mb and with winds just above the sfc around 30 kts mixing to the sfc winds around 15 to 25 mph with gust up to 35 mph. Showers and thunderstorms will develop Wednesday afternoon and evening. Moisture will increase to the area ahead of the shortwave and will provide enough moisture where there is the potential for HP type thunderstorms, could see locally heavy amounts of rainfall. Low level shear will be marginal in the afternoon but increase towards the evening hours, with MU CAPE values around 1500 to 2000 J/kg. There will be a chance for strong to severe thunderstorms, with the greatest threat in the late afternoon and evening hours on Wednesday. && .LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY/... Issued at 355 PM CDT Mon May 27 2024 A front moves through on Thursday bringing cooler temperatures with highs in the low 70s Friday, but the cool down will be brief with temperatures returning to the 80s by Sunday. Ahead of the front on Thursday, another chance for showers and thunderstorms Thursday, some of which may be strong and could also produce locally heavy rainfall. At this time CAPE values there will be a narrow band of CAPE values over 2000 J/kg, with the greatest risk at the moment generally along and east of HWY 83, but will need to continue to monitor future forecast. && .AVIATION /06Z TAFS THROUGH 06Z WEDNESDAY/...
