Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior
National Weather Service Marquette MI
942 AM EDT Thu Jun 13 2024

For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior.

Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the
highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the
average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum.

.SYNOPSIS...A 29.6 inch trough over Lake Superior this morning
gives way to ridging the rest of today through Friday, with the
ridging building to 30.1 inches over the lake by Friday
afternoon. This high pressure continues building to 30.2 inches
as it moves over the central Great Lakes Saturday, and continues
shifting east toward New England on Sunday. Deepening low pressure
near 29.4 inches emerges out of the High Plains Saturday night,
moving northeast towards Hudson Bay Sunday into Monday as it
deepens to 29.0 inches. This low extends a 29.6 inch trough over
Lake Superior Sunday night before weak ridging of 29.9 inches
moves over Lake Superior from the Northern Plains Monday. A low
pressure of at least 29.5 inches looks to move off the Colorado
Rockies into the Northern Plains early next week.
