435 FZUS63 KMQT 040158 GLFLS Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior National Weather Service Marquette MI 958 PM EDT Mon Jun 3 2024 For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior. Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum. .SYNOPSIS...Lake Superior is currently set between 29.9 inch ridging over the Lower Great Lakes and a trough of 29.4 inches over the west end of the Dakotas. On Tuesday, 29.2 inch low pressure tracking across the Canadian Prairies will power the trough eastward to the Upper Mississippi Valley. The trough will then sail across Lake Superior Tuesday night and Wednesday morning while the parent low pressure tracks from the Canadian Prairies toward northern Ontario. The low weakens to 29.5 inches over far northeastern Ontario Thursday through Thursday night while a 30.0 inch ridge builds southeast into the Northern and Central Plains. This ridge will drift toward the Mississippi Valley on Friday while the low over far northeastern Ontario drifts east into Quebec, weakening to 29.6 inches.
