337 FZCA72 TJSJ 230859 MWSSJU Marine Weather Statement National Weather Service San Juan PR 459 AM AST Thu May 23 2024 AMZ711-712-716-726-741-742-231200- Atlantic Waters of Puerto Rico and USVI from 10 NM to 19.5N- Coastal Waters of Northern Puerto Rico out 10 NM- Coastal Waters from Cabo San Juan to the waters between Anegada Island and Virgin Gorda and North 10 NM- Coastal waters east of Puerto Rico, around Vieques, and around and just north of Culebra and Saint John- Mona Passage Southward to 17N- Coastal Waters of Northwestern Puerto Rico out 10 NM- 459 AM AST Thu May 23 2024 ...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE LOCAL WATERS... At 457 AM AST, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots and frequent lightning. These thunderstorms were located mainly over coastal waters of U.S. Virgins Islands, Atlantic waters, and Mona Passage. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher waves, lightning strikes, and heavy downpours. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass. $$
