Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Tucson AZ
222 AM MST Mon May 27 2024

.SYNOPSIS...High temperatures will run above normal over the next
seven days as we close out May and begin June.

&&

.DISCUSSION...Above normal high temperatures, dry conditions and
typical afternoon gusty winds will occur over the next 7 days as
we close out May and begin June. The Santa Cruz Ice will break in
Tucson this week with the Tucson airport having a good shot at it
occurring today, despite the low 17% chance by the 25/01z NBM. I
say this since the NBM has been running up to 2 degrees cool on
forecast high temperatures at the Tucson airport over the 7 days.
Plus the ground is awfully dry since no measurable rain has been
recorded since April 1st. Did you know that Tucson has recorded
its first calendar triple digit high on Memorial Day only once
since 1895. That occurrence was on May 30, 1977.

&&

.AVIATION...Valid through 28/12Z.
SKC. SFC winds thru 27/17z and then again after 28/03z will be
terrain driven and less than 10 kts. At other times SWLY/NWLY
8-12 kts with ocnl hier gusts. Aviation discussion not updated
for TAF amendments.

&&

.FIRE WEATHER...Afternoon high temperatures will be above normal
this week. Expect diurnal wind trends to continue with occasional
afternoon wind gusts, generally less than 25 kts. Min RH`s in the
single digits across the valleys and some of the mountaintops.

&&

.TWC WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...None.
