Subject: Decommissioning of the NOAA Profiler Network (NPN),
  Effective July 11, 2024

The Radar Operations Center (ROC) will decommission the NOAA Profiler
Network (NPN) effective July 11, 2024. NPN consists of three
operational
sites in Alaska (Anchorage (AWPA), Homer (HWPA), and Talkeetna
(TLKA)).

The NPN has been identified as a low priority system by operational
users.
NPN equipment is obsolete with unreliable data availability which
have
never met operational availability requirements. NPN data were
previously
available: https://www.weather.gov/nl2/NPNView.

Archived datasets of Wind Profile Data are available at the National
Centers for Environmental Information:
