Weather Summary for Iowa
National Weather Service Des Moines IA
311 AM CDT Thu Jun 6 2024

Today:

The weak boundary which produced a few scattered showers and storms
last evening exited Iowa overnight into Illinois and Missouri. Behind
this boundary, light west winds were occurring early this morning over
much of the state with clear skies. Temperatures were mostly from the
mid 50s to mid 60s statewide.

Tranquil weather is expected for today with generally sunny conditions
over much of the state although some scattered cloudiness is likely
in the north. Gusty northwest winds are also expected by late morning
into the afternoon with gusts of up to 40 mph, particularly in
northern Iowa as highs top out in the 70s.

Tonight and beyond:

The quiet weather persists into tonight and much of Friday although
clouds are expected to increase through Friday. The threat of
scattered showers and storms return by late Friday afternoon into
Friday night as a weak system passes through the state. A few
lingering showers are expected into Saturday although most locations
are expected to remain dry. Sunday appears relatively quiet at this
point with weekend temperatures in the 70s to lower 80s on both days.
